DescriptionUnder general supervision is responsible for configuring, installing, troubleshooting and maintaining computing hardware and software infrastructure including all workstations and servers. Assesses user training needs and trains users in effective use of applications and hardware as needed. Provides Tier 1 and Tier 2 Help Desk support to all users for hardware and software problem resolution using diagnostic and application software and hardware. Makes recommendations regarding hardware and software acquisitions and upgrades. Is responsible for maintaining a safe working environment in various computing and networking testing and storage areas. Assist in all aspects of maintaining the networking infrastructure as needed. Maintains documentation for all aspects of listed and assigned responsibilities. Provides some programming services to users. Other duties as assigned. Reports to the Director of Public Safety.
ExperienceRequires an Associates degree in computer science or related field supplemented by three to five years experience in technical support and programming, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Physical RequirementsMust be physically able to operate a variety of machines and equipment including various computer equipment, telephone, fax machine, etc. Must be able to exert up to forty pounds of force occasionally and/or up to twenty pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve lifting, walking or standing for periods of time. Requires climbing and use of ladders and work with hands above head level. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of twenty to forty pounds. Requires the ability to work in confined areas where high levels of hand, eye and foot coordination are required.
